The Ford Foundation was established on Jan. 15, 1936. The foundation operated in Michigan under the leadership of Ford family members. The Ford Foundation supports visionary leaders and organizations on the frontlines of social change worldwide.
The Ford Foundation accepts applications for protecting women’s rights. The goal of this work is to improve the livelihoods of low-income women by strategically addressing inequality and discrimination.
Eligible Regions
- Africa – Eastern Africa, Middle East and North Africa, Southern Africa, and West Africa
- Asia – China, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia
- North America – United States
- Latin America – Andean region, Southern Cone, Brazil, Mexico, and Central America.
How to Apply
- Applicants may apply for a grant by visiting the Grants section in Web site and submitting an online grant inquiry.
- Applicants will be asked to indicate the region where proposed work will be pursued. If proposed work benefits more than one geographic area outside of the United States, then applicant should apply for a global grant, which covers multiple regions.
- Applicant will be asked to provide basic information which includes:
- Contact information of applicant and corresponding organization
- Brief description of applicant’s organization
- List of those who would carry out the project
- Description of the purpose of the project and the issues/problems it is intended to address
- Estimated project budget and time frame
