Human Rights Defenders who are at risk (groups/organizations) can apply for Front Line Defenders Security Grants. Those in need of the grants must send an application form answering some of the crucial questions and providing some clear information about themselves and/or the organization.
Information Required
- Contact details of the applicant – full name, organization, address of the organization, phone number and email, and name of the person accountable to Front Line for the organization.
- Concise outline of HRD’s group/organization – aims, previous activities, membership, organizational structure, financial structure, work with other groups or networks.
- The security risk the Human Rights Defender is facing and reason behind it.
- Expected results after implementing the project/activity with the grant received. Impact measurement technique.
- Breakdown of costs and the base for cost estimation.
- First time applicants must provide contact details of at least two referees who are well known within the human rights community in applicant’s country or internationally and who know the applicant’s human rights work and the risks and threats that they face as a result of their activities.
Note: Application can be sent via post, email or fax. The applications are considered on quarterly basis. When the application is received, Front Line Defenders staff contacts the applicant to clarify the application. The applicants will receive written response to their application after the clarification session.
