Applications for the 2016 Regional Course for Latin America and the Caribbean are currently being accepted.
The 2016 Regional Course in International Law for Latin America and the Caribbean is organized by the Codification Division of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs in cooperation with Uruguay.
The Regional Course will be held at the facilities of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Montevideo, from 4 to 29 April 2016. The Regional Course will be conducted in English. The course will accommodate up to 30 participants.
The fellowships cover the fellowship recipient’s travel in economy class, accommodation, meals, medical insurance, participation in the Regional Course and the training materials. Qualified candidates may also apply for self-funded positions.
Eligible Countries in Latin America & the Caribbean
The Regional Course is open to candidates from the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of).
Eligibility Criteria
- To qualify for the Regional Course, candidates must have a legal background with professional experience in the field of international law. The selected participants are required to submit a medical certificate of good health and to certify that they are able to attend the entire course period.
- The 2016 Regional Course will be conducted in English. Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
- The Regional Course is also open to academia and professionals from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and similar institutions engaged in international law activities in the relevant region.
