Introduction: RedR UK is the Register of Engineers for Disaster Relief, a charity created in the 80s to provide technical and logistic help to population in dire needs. In 1991, RedR started its training programme, which soon expanded to become one of the main assets of this charity. The goal of the training programme is to build the skills of local aid workers to support their professional career and also to make them working independently from international bodies. RedR currently runs training programmes in Kenya, Pakistan, Sudan, and tailored made programmes worldwide.
Objectives: The Proposal Writing course aims to provide the participants with apt tools to write a successful project proposal in 2 days. Participants will be introduced to best practices in proposal writing and they will be also helped to develop their own ideas into a proposal format. Participants will also be given the opportunity to present their ideas to the group at large and to get feedback from the other participants. The course touches on the following topics:
- Elements of proposals
- Planning and Designing Proposals
- Identifying proposal purpose and understanding donors’ requirements
- Writing skills; language, layout, format, structure, and flow
Venue: Contact the organisers for more information about the venue at sudanadmin@redr.org.uk
Dates: 19-20 August in Khartoum and 8-9 September in Nyala
Eligibility: The course is open to NGO members based in Sudan only. In particular, the course is tailored for managers and officers who are in charge of writing proposals although the course would appeal to anyone interested in understanding how to write successful proposals for NGOs.
Why it is important for NGOs to attend it: To learn how to write successful project proposals is essential to guarantee the survival of an NGO. The competition to secure funding for non-profit organisations is increasingly tough and it is of utter importance for those working in the NGO sector to master the art of writing proposals. This is why this 2-day course offers the opportunity to improve your existing skills in a professional environment. Remember that RedR UK has been organising seminars and trainings for 2 decades! Certainly, the material provided and the discussions during the training will benefit all those working in NGOs who are in charge of writing project proposals or fundraising.
Also consider that this is one of the many courses organised by RedR UK in Sudan. The charity will also run a number of courses about “report writing”, “stress management”, “managing people in emergency”, “monitoring and evaluation”, and “field travel safety”.
