The U.S Consulate General in Basrah is inviting eligible organizations to submit proposals to assist in the development and implementation of a youth-focused entrepreneurship and mentoring program in Basrah province. The U.S Consulate General Barsrah intends to engage local Barsrah youth in developing a self-starting network to who demonstrate the potential for careers in the private sector and connecting them with like-minded individuals who are employed in the private sector.
The goal for this twelve-month Cooperative Agreement is to develop a network of young people, provide them with skills that will increase their employability in the local labor market, and introduce them to Basrah business leaders.
Award – The awardee will be given a grant of $100,000.
Program’s Phases
- Phase 1: Recruitment & Capacity Building workshop
- Phase 2: Establishing Mentoring/Professionalism Coaching
- Phase 3: Follow Up Activities
- Phase 4: Final Phase and End of Grant Publicity
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible for the program the applicant must:
- Be a U.S. non-profit organization meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 derived from USC 501(c) (3); an internationally based non-profit organization; an academic institution; or other institution for which profit is not a primary motive;
- Have demonstrated experience developing and administering similar programs;
- Have the capacity to operate in Iraq, or have or develop active partnerships with organization(s) operating in Iraq.
