The United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Cambodia) is calling proposals to support the activities of Cambodian non-governmental organizations. The purpose is to strengthen civil society engagement in processes that promote democracy, government accountability, and an enhanced respect for human rights.
Anticipated Funding Availability and Program Duration
USAID/Cambodia is anticipating multiple awards under this APS. The funding range per award will vary between $100,000 and $1,500,000 with a two to three year period of performance. The total estimated funding amount over the life of this APS is $3,000,000 to $5,000,000, subject to the availability of funds.
Objectives
- To promote and protect human rights.
- To promote and protect social, cultural, and economic rights.
- To expand access to and use of information.
- To integrate democratic principles and transparency into targeted governance process.
Youth engagement and gender equality are cross-cutting themes that must be integrated into all program activities. USAID/Cambodia plans to fund multiple awards to local organizations through this APS.
Eligibility Information
To be eligible for this program, an organization must meet the following criteria:
- The organization must be a local organization.
- The organization must be a non-profit, non-governmental local organization, or a local for-profit organization that is willing to forgo profit. These may include Cambodian non-governmental organizations, faith-based organizations, foundations, professional associations, networks, and consortia/coalitions of the above. In the case of consortia and coalitions, one organization must be identified as the “prime partner”.
- The organization must have basic accountability, financial management, and program implementation structures in place.
- The organization must not have any pending disciplinary or legal action against them from another USAID or another U.S. agency.
- The organization must be willing to participate in an organizational capacity assessment process and in subsequent capacity strengthening to improve its organizational systems and technical abilities.
- The organization (or its key personnel) must have demonstrated skills and experience in the programmatic area in which it is proposing to work.
