Arghyam: Improving accessibility to clean water in India

Arghyam aims to work to improve access to clean water and the provision of sanitation in a sustainable and equitable manner. Arghyam considers requests for grants to assist small, medium and large projects in India that meet its vision of safe, sustainable, water and sanitation for all.

Arghyam makes grants to NGOs, civil society organisations, research institutions and government agencies at local, regional and national levels.

Areas of Support

  1. Arghyam considers support for activities in the following areas:
  2. Groundwater and sanitation focus projects that are aligned with Arghyam’s programmatic approach.
  3. Projects that work with marginalized communities in rural and urban areas.
  4. Capacity building of communities to understand and respond to their local water and sanitation needs.
  5. Innovative projects that have potential for knowledge improvement.
  6. Projects that demonstrate efficiency in cost per beneficiary, last mile reach, sustainability of outcome over time, institutionalization of successful efforts, etc.

Application Deadline

Grant requests are accepted throughout the year. There is no specific time for applying to Arghyam for a grant.

Eligibility

  1. Organisations should be registered under Trusts Act, Society’s Act or as a section 25 Company.
  2. The organization must possess:
    1. Certificate of registration.
    2. 12 A certificate and 80 G certificate from the Income Tax Department.

How to Apply?

Concept Note Submission

  • The concept note should be submitted to the email address given on the foundation website.

Detailed proposal

  • The applicants will be informed in 3 weeks after the submission of concept note. If their concept note is approved, the applicants will be required to submit a detailed proposal.
  • The entire process may take up to three months. Applicants are requested to keep this in mind while applying.
