The Barakat Trust is a UK registered charity which provides financial support for the study and research of the material and visual cultures of Islamic societies. It was founded in 1987 and is responding to this urgent need by supporting and facilitating opportunities to study, conserve and preserve an extraordinary artistic heritage.
The trust operates exclusively for educational purposes, providing scholarships and grants in Islamic Art History, Architecture, and Archaeology at the world’s most respected academic and cultural institutions at post-graduate and post-doctoral level.
Objectives
The objective of the trust is to explore and appreciate the culture of the Islamic world through its better understanding and study.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants from all over the world relating to the fields of Islamic Art History, Architecture, and Archaeology are eligible to apply for support.
- Proposed projects should show promise of genuine and useful contributions to knowledge, and be consistent with Barakat’s overall aims.
