The Scottish Government accepts applications from organizations and institutions in Scotland with experience of working in one of the four target countries (Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia) for the Climate Justice Fund Round 2. The Climate Justice Fund is aimed at addressing he needs of climate vulnerable people, particularly recognizing the disproportionate effect the impact of climate change can have on the poor, and women and children in developing countries.
Total four grants will be awarded to conduct projects in the four countries – Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia – one award per country.
The Climate Justice Fund Priorities:
- Climate change adaptation through better water management in recognition that climate will impact on water availability and quality.
- Energy or food projects which have substantial connections
- to water, for example small scale hydro power or solar irrigation.
- Human-rights based approach – approaches which empower
- vulnerable groups in decision – making and access to resources and realizing their rights.
- Private Sector involvement through skills, knowledge or technology transfer and blended financing.
- Projects that build supportive links between communities in Scotland and climate vulnerable communities in the partnercountry.
Eligibility Criteria:
- This call is for the work undertaken by organizations and institutions in Scotland, working to support those in greatest need and the most vulnerable.
- Applicants must have experience of working in one of the following four African countries – Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania or Zambia.
- The proposal must demonstrate that the project is delivering tangible outcomes on the ground, and that they are working in line with the development priorities.
- NGOs, and/ or private sector and Scottish Universities can form consortia application.
- Proposed project can also be a trans-boundary water management between eligible counties would also be possible if applicants can demonstrate that this is a priority.
