The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is call for projects in Peru to fund conservation initiatives in the Tropical Andes Biodiversity Hotspot.
The CEPF is a unique amongst the financing mechanisms focusing on the world’s biodiversity hotspots. One of the main goals of CEPF is to assure that civil society engages in initiatives for the conservation of biodiversity at hotspots. For such purpose, CEPF offers civil society an agile and flexible financing mechanism that complements funds of local and/or regional initiatives.
Project Objective
To encourage local indigenous, afro-descendent, mestizo and environmental civil society groups to be effective advocates and facilitators of multi-stakeholder approaches that promote biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in the Tropical Andes Hotspot through financing projects that focus on such purpose.
Eligible Countries
Peru and bi-national (Peru-Bolivia).
Grants & Duration
There are two Grants available:
- Large grants: Grants are given for projects more than US$20,000.
- Small grants: Grants are given for small projects up to US$20,000 with a maximum length of 18 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-governmental organizations, community groups, private enterprises, universities and other civil society applicants may apply for funding. Organizations must have their own bank account and be authorized under relevant national laws to receive charitable contributions.
- Institutions or organization are eligible only if they can demonstrate that they:
- Have a legal personality independent of any government agency or actor.
- Have the authority to apply for and receive private funds.
- May not assert a claim of sovereign immunity.
