The Kiva fellowship is a volunteer based position that offers participants a unique insider experience into microfinance industry, and provide a career opportunity of a lifetime. Individuals that express a high degree of geographic flexibility are more likely to be selected for a placement.
Applicants with fluency or advanced communication ability in Arabic, French, Khmer, Mandarin, Mongolian, Pashto, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Tagalog/Cebuano, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese are highly preferred or required for many positions. English-only speakers can apply for diverse Anglophone portfolio.
Eligibility Criteria
- Overseas experience, preferably in developing countries (not required for placements within the United States) is mandatory.
- Applicants must have high degree of flexibility, self-motivation and problem solving abilities.
- Applicants must have the ability to adapt to new cultures and be flexible in new, challenging environments.
- Applicants must have background in one or more of the following – finance, consulting, international development, business/social enterprise, social science, media production, marketing/communications, economic development, and urban studies.
- Applicants must have familiarity and comfort with various web applications and technology.
- Applicants must demonstrate dedication to working in the field.
- Applicants must have high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently.
- Applicants must commit to work as Kiva fellow for at least 4-month.
- Applicant must have ability and commitment to fund the experience.
