Proposal writing is not a one man’s job. It is actually a process where you involve several actors, contributing to the soul of the proposal. The success of the proposal depends upon how innovative your project is and to make your project innovative, you need more and more ideas for planning the project. You can get these ideas when you speak to those who will be involved in it.
The community which will benefit from the project should be involved in the process of writing the proposal. While the community is the primary beneficiary, there can be secondary beneficiaries as well like community representatives or leaders who can also be part of your proposal planning process.
If there are other stakeholders like a local government agency which will also be partially involved in the execution of the project, then it can also be involved in proposal planning.
Your organization’s team can play a strong role in your planning process. Most proposal formats seek extensive information about organizations proposing the project. This information can be developed only through an in-depth analysis of your team and the resources you have. This can be managed through a long consultation with your staff members.
The donor agency can also be consulted in the planning of your project. Not all donors would be interested in providing inputs to your proposal especially if it is an open call for funding. However, some other donors take deep interest in what you propose and are willing to offer their expertise on it.
