The Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund (VGIF) is an international women’s fund based in the United States. A public foundation, VGIF provides small grants up to USD 7,500 to women-led grassroots projects in developing countries around the world. These projects help improve the lives of women and girls by advancing their rights and social justice.
From 1970 through 2013, VGIF invested in more than 515 projects. VGIF yearly calls organizations to submit letters of intent during mid of the year. Grant applications can be made for one year, successful grantees may be invited to submit a proposal for a three-year grant.

- Promoting education in the sciences for girls

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant organization must be governed and directed by women.
- Applicants should be organizations in developing countries, including the emerging democracies in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
- Applicants must address one or more of the issues addressed above.
- Applications cannot be made for individual scholarships and tuitions, political organizations, religious groups unless the proposed project contributes to the general good of the community.
- Grant request for construction of permanent buildings or the purchase of land, salaries of board members and permanent staff will not be accepted.
