Many NGOs around the world work on the issue of disabilities and need funding to move their mission forward. Fundsforngos.org receives many inquiries about donor funding for disability programs, both from grassroots organizations in developing countries to large international NGOs. This guide will help give direction by summarizing options you can explore to get the support you need.
Donors that fund disability programs are sometimes difficult to identify. This guide provides tips, tricks, and resources that can help. This short resource provides answers on funding and successfully applying for disability related grants.
Is there money for disability programs?
Though we do not have data for global funding for disability programs, the data from the United States is instructive and may provide some guidance. From 2003 till the present day, US Foundations provided over 57,000 grants to recipients based in the US, of which a small proportion (nearly 1,000) went to NGOs outside of the US. In 2010 alone the top 100 grants totaled over US$500,000,000.
