The American Lung Association is inviting applicants for Lung Health Research Dissertation Grant to support pre-doctoral dissertation research in the various disciplines of social science examining risk factors affecting lung health including:
- Psychosocial research
- Behavioral research
- Health services and health policy research
- Epidemiology / Biostatics research
- Public Health Education research
Award Information
- The Dissertation Grant is for $21,000 per year. Up to $16,000 of the award may be used for a student stipend.
- The maximum amount of funds expendable for travel is $1,000 per year.
Eligibility Criteria
- At the time of application, the applicant must be a matriculating student in good standing in a full-time academic program leading to a doctoral degree in one of the above-mentioned fields.
- Nurses pursuing a doctoral degree in any field are eligible.
- At the time of application, candidates must be United States citizens or foreign nationals holding visa immigration statuses (mentioned on the pdf).
- At the time of application and throughout the award, an applicant must be employed by a U.S. institution.
- The sponsor should be a recognized authority in the applicant’s field of research and possess the necessary training resources. The sponsor must have an academic affiliated appointment and must be working in a not-for profit institution.
