The Arcus Foundation is a leading global foundation dedicated to the idea that people can live in harmony with one another and the natural world. The Foundation’s social justice strategy aims to enable individuals and families of every sexual orientation and gender identity, race, and ethnicity to live their lives with dignity and respect, and express their love and sense of self wherever they are in the world. Its’ human rights strategy seeks to improve respect for and recognition of the rights and value of the great apes and strengthen protection from threats to the apes and their habitats. In 2013, Arcus awarded 168 grants totaling $17,913,030 to organizations working to advance social justice in the U.S. and around the world; and 44 grants totaling $10,037,365 to organizations working to conserve and protect the great apes.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be organized for charitable purpose.
- Applicants must have in place a board-approved Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policy that specifically includes and lists sexual orientation and gender identity, and required compliance with all other applicable federal and local EEO laws. Organizations without compliant policies will not be considered for funding.
- Proposed project must align with the Foundation’s mission, vision, and specific program goals.
