The Foundation for Human Rights aimed at addressing the historical legacy of apartheid, to promote and advance transformation in the country and to build a human rights culture using the Constitution as a tool supports civil society organizations in South Africa. The programs supported should promote and protect human rights, access to justice, promoting constitutional rights and strengthening participatory democracy.
The approaches applied for the promotion, protection and fulfillment of human rights are – empowering vulnerable groups to access their rights, and promoting participatory democracy, thereby improving the quality of peoples’ lives and freeing the potential of each person, in order to overcome the injustices of the past.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a legal entity/organization whose core mandate is the promotion, protection and advancement of human rights, and must be registered with the Department of Social Development as a non-profit organization.
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate their ability to implement the project and to transfer knowledge at local level.
Applicants must also demonstrate that they have in place an appropriate monitoring and evaluation system.
