World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Administrative Officer in Male, Maldives. The duration of this post is 2 years.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations’ system.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Administrative Officer performs the following functions-
- Manages staff in delivering a full range of administrative services in support of programme implementation, viz., finance, human resources, procurement, travel, meetings, premises management, security, information technology & communications, asset management and GSM operations.
- Provides advice and analysis to WR and other relevant staff at WCO on areas of administration including compliance with rules and regulations and guidance.
- Oversees and supervises accounts management, handling of cash and impress accounts, and submits reports in accordance with rules and guidance.
- Advises WR on a wide range of HR issues and oversees recruitment and contract management issues.
- Oversees procurement of goods and services for management of country office or for support of the WHO collaborative programme, participates in local contract review committees, and ensuring best value for money in procurement practices.
- Facilitates team building and coordinates staff development and learning activities.
- Assists the WHO Representative in establishing and maintaining an efficient and effective compliance programme within the Office promoting awareness on standards of conduct and compliance.
- Liaises with SEARO administrative and programme units to ensure timely delivery of services.
- Represents WHO at meetings at national and regional levels in administration, management and other areas as decided by the WR.
- Liaises with technical programme staff in WCO and informs WR on the implementation status and ensures optimal utilization of resources.
- Assists WR in identifying factors impeding effective implementation of WHO collaborative programme and provide solutions.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by WHO Representative.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- University degree from a recognized institute in business/public administration, economics, organizational development.
- Training in HR, accounting finance, monitoring and evaluation.
- Knowledge of administrative, financial and management theories and principles, procedures and their application.
- At least three years’ experience including international experience in managing a wide range of administrative and financial services, leading and supervising staff teams.
- Experience with WHO/UN or equivalent organization working in a developing country setting and interaction with national authorities.
- Ability to work under pressure in an independent manner with an inter-disciplinary team.
- Ability to manage teams.
- Ability to represent the Organization in dealing with Government, UN agencies and other development partners.
- Excellent inter-personal skills, tact and diplomacy.
- Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.
- Working knowledge of the local language is an advantage.
