Asian Development Bank (ADB) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Country Director in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The Country Director will be responsible to lead and support external and internal relations, coordination, and consultation, and maintain high-level partnerships with the government.
The ADB aims for an Asia and Pacific free from poverty.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Country Director will perform the following functions-
- Lead ADB’s work to develop country strategies, business plans, administer and prepare selected operations, and knowledge work.
- Lead in high-level policy dialogue with the government and other key stakeholders; and in following up on ADB’s response to identified issues.
- Oversee the planning, implementation and supervision of work plans as well as monitor the quality of output and the achievement of long term goals and annual objectives for KYRM.
- Continually assess the role of KYRM and how it can best respond to evolving circumstances in the Kyrgyz Republic and identify key priority areas and initiate such changes.
- Provide high-level advice and support to the Director General (DG) in running the operations of KYRM and ADB’s strategic agenda.
- Identify the Kyrgyz Republic’s development needs, and assess ADB’s capacity to address them, in consultation with government, civil society, the private sector, academia and other development partners.
- Guide the preparation of CPS and country operations business plans (COBP), including the country knowledge plan ensuring close partnership with a diverse range of counterparts.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s Degree or equivalent, in Economics, Development Studies, Engineering or related fields.
- University degree in Economics, Development Studies, Engineering or related fields combined with specialized experience in similar organization/s, may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree.
- Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level.
- At least 15 years of relevant professional experience in country programming, project processing and administration, and economics.
- Broad-based exposure to strategic planning and policy, and operations of multilateral development and financing institutions.
- Demonstrated experience in managing high-level negotiations with Governments.
- Proven interpersonal, cross-cultural and negotiating skills, with ability to effectively liaise with senior staff, Management, and senior government officials.
- Proven management and leadership qualities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- International working experience in development in several countries.
- Experience in working in the former Soviet Union is an asset.
