Gavi is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Director, Public Policy Engagement in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Director, Public Policy Engagement will lead and manage the Public Policy Engagement (PPE) team.
Gavi’s mission is to save children’s lives and protecting people’s health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower-income countries.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Director, Public Policy Engagement will perform the following functions-
- Design and lead the implementation of an engagement strategy at global and regional level with Vaccine Alliance stakeholders to increase political will for immunization in Gavi supported countries and global health for a.
- Lead public immunization policy analysis and development and coordinate Gavi positioning and approaches with other relevant secretariat departments and Executive Office to produce proactive and consistent approaches, position papers and messaging.
- Provide strategic leadership and insight to the international development and health landscape; and advise on evolving global health architecture space, including positioning of immunization in developing countries and Gavi.
- As part of senior management, serve as a thought partner with the Executive Office and Executive Team and as a strategic resource throughout the organization, demonstrating leadership and collaboration internally and externally to Alliance partners and other relevant contacts.
- Represent Gavi at external events, liaise with high-level officials and partners and negotiate efforts towards common goals.
- Manage and lead the PPE team: recruit, mentor, develop and monitor the performance of the team; actively contribute to the organization’s business planning processes; develop and monitor budget.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Minimum of 15 years of work experience in Advocacy, Public Policy, and campaign strategy development and implementation, with a proven track record in leading a team to successfully engage the support of multiple stakeholder groups.
- Experience in global health and development.
- Strong knowledge of the international development landscape and current issues.
- Field experience in developing countries desirable.
- Vaccine and immunization experience desirable.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of French is highly desirable.
