United Nations University (UNU) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Education Programme Associate in Bonn, Germany. The duration of this post is 1 year.
The mission of the UN University is to contribute, through collaborative research and education, to efforts to resolve the pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare that are the concern of the United Nations, its Peoples and Member States.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Education Programme Associate will perform the following functions-
- UNU-EHS Intensive Summer Course:-
- Manage and oversee the implementation of the 2-week long course annually in Bonn:
- Advertising the course, running a call for applications, selecting successful candidates, working with UNU-EHS scientists to organize course materials, maintaining eLearning platform for course materials, organizing all external/internal logistics for the course, assisting participants with travel/accommodation needs, developing the course schedule, running introductory aspects of the course, and developing/administering facilitation exercises.
- Act as a focal point:
- Lasing with embassies to ensure entry of participants, marketing of the programmes externally, and corresponding with interested parties
- UNU-EHS/ViE International Internship and Visiting Scientist (VS) Programmes:-
- Manage, oversee, and run all aspects of both programmes:
- Advertising openings, collecting applications, assisting staff with interview processes, overseeing contract signing, and providing guidance to both staff and interns/VS on procedures/policy
- Act as a focal point and manage personnel files:
- Marketing of the programmes externally, corresponding with interested parties, ensuring accurate record keeping and discretion when handling records.
- General Section Development and Coordination:-
- Represent the section at national and international meetings, conferences events, as needed.
- Allocate and purchasing resources, as needed.
- Support section with regard to event planning, network building, project proposals, and knowledge sharing and workshop facilitation/mediation, as needed.
- Provide administrative support with regard to drafting, writing and editing of documents (in English), as needed.
- Coordinate and support section’s internal reporting processes, as needed.
- Research and coordinate new educational and research opportunities including funding.
- Coordinate AXA Research Fund submissions and overseeing budget allocation, on a case by-case basis.
- Perform any other duties as required.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree in a field of interest to the position, such as, Administration, Education, Geography, International (Affairs, Development, Relations, Policy), Management, Political Science, other Social Science, as well as, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of internationally recognized working experience related to project management/coordination/administration.
- Proven background in project management in a multicultural surrounding, preferably related to education or training programmes.
- Event planning experience with small (5-20), medium (20-50), large groups (50+), and extra large (100+) groups.
- Ability to work independently and set own deadlines, as well as in a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Experience managing groups of people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office) and an interest in learning new ICT.
- Some experience in collaborative networking building.
- Experience in using ICT for educational purposes.
- Experience with eLearning environments (Model).
- Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
- Basic German communication skills.
