The International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Program Director, Women’s Economic Empowerment Program, based in Amman, Jordan.
IREX is an international nonprofit organization providing thought leadership and innovative programs to promote positive lasting change globally.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Program Director will perform the following functions-
- Provide vision and strategic direction for the program.
- Develop and implement a plan of activities to:
- Increase productivity and job opportunities generated by women entrepreneurs;
- Increase employment of women by businesses; and
- Reduce gender-specific barriers to women’s entrepreneurship and to women entering into and remaining in the work force.
- Increase skills and access to financial and non-financial services and improve the institutional environment to assist women in their ability to benefit from economic growth.
- Serve as IREX’s primary liaison with the donor, the government of Jordan, and other partners as needed.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with local, regional and international organizations active in the economic development and private sectors.
- Ensure that donor and IREX reporting requirements on program impact are met.
- Manage and mentor project staff.
- Coordinate with home office.
- Oversee financial and administrative management of the program, ensuring budget discipline.
- Manage effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program activities.
- Represent IREX publicly and support its organizational development.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Minimum of 8 years of experience managing donor-funded activities required; Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD) experience strongly preferred.
- Successful track record in supervising, designing, managing, and implementing donor-funded technical assistance projects for economic development.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective activities to increase job opportunities and women’s empowerment.
- Experience working in the MENA region required; knowledge of the political and social context in Jordan strongly desired.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and work on a multi-national and multi-partner team.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with senior officials in government, with civic leaders, businesspeople and international donors.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff, manage budgets and plan strategically and creatively to meet specified objectives.
- Strong representational and organizational skills required.
- Fluency in English required; ability to communicate professionally in Arabic strongly desired.
