The Pact is currently accepting applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Advocacy Advisor based in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The Advocacy Advisor is responsible for the overall management, and technical oversight of interventions aimed at supporting strategic communications and policy advocacy by civil society organizations (CSOs) in Nepal.
Pact envisions a world where those who are poor and marginalized exercise their voice, build their own solutions, and take ownership of their future.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Advocacy Advisor will perform the following functions-
- Provide overall guidance to district-based and national CSOs to develop advocacy strategies and plans that respond to identified needs determined by project data, and build on current and past advocacy efforts in relevant fields in Nepal
- Provide strategic guidance to CSOs in managing external relations to effectively communicate key messages, as well as with crisis communications
- Build networks with like-minded allies and maintain relationships with decision makers to ensure linkages between local advocacy efforts and policymaking at the national level
- Develop and lead implementation of an integrated communication strategy that promotes project messages to key audiences through diverse media
- Develop standardized reporting formats, regular reports/progress updates, briefings, and bulletins for CSOs and donors community
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Perform all work safely and maintain a safe working environment
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Government or other relevant field
- 5 years of relevant professional experience in media and advocacy
- Experience successfully managing staff
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, initiative, and good judgment
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems
- Ability to independently plan and execute complex tasks while addressing daily management details and remaining organized and focused on long-term deadlines and strategy
- Ability to develop networks and managing relationships with key stakeholders
- Fluency in English and Nepali required
