The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Education Officer, based in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Under the close supervision and technical guidance of the Education Specialist – Emergencies, the Education Officer is required to strengthen planning, monitoring and evaluation practices for the emergency recovery in the 14 earthquake affected districts by developing a quality M&E framework for UNICEF and partners.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Education Officer performs the following functions-
- Develop a strong M&E framework and reporting tool in line with UNICEF internal requirements and donor requirements to track progress of Education recovery activities in the fourteen earthquake-affected districts.
- Identify needs for capacity building on monitoring, evaluation, and reporting with government and implementing partners in the fourteen affected districts, and plan and implement training sessions and ongoing support as required.
- Review and provide regular feedback to partners on quality of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities.
- Support monitoring with partners for implementation of key activities within the recovery framework by participating in regular joint monitoring visits and in support of site offices.
- Liaise with government counterparts to share progress, monitoring and evaluation information as necessary, providing inputs into government data management systems for recovery as required.
- Support preparation of project status reports against set targets, including visual materials and mapping via GIS software as needed.
- Provide feedback to Joint Partnership Reviews based on observed progress against agreed activities in relation to quality of monitoring and reporting aligned within partnership agreements (PCAs and SSFAs).
- Participate in inter-sectoral collaboration with other sections on monitoring and evaluation for joint projects.
- Keep an efficient and time-bound database of partner information and provide required data analysis against set targets, recommending corrective actions as needed to improve quality of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- University degree in social sciences, statistics, planning, database management, or any related area.
- Two years of relevant professional work experience at national and/or international levels in programme planning, monitoring, reporting, data analysis and data management.
- Technical knowledge/expertise in quantitative/qualitative/mixed methods, validity/reliability testing of data, data analysis, and interpretation and dissemination of information.
- Relevant experience in education in emergencies, program/project development and management in a UN system agency or organization, including knowledge of humanitarian community and cluster system is an asset.
- Experience in GIS and mapping an asset.
- Fluency in English and Nepali (verbal and written).
