The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Technical Specialist based in Lusaka, Zambia.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Technical Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Provide substantive guidance and technical support on issues of gender equality and women’s human rights in the context of sexual and reproductive health within UNFPA as well as outside.
- Provide substantive guidance and technical support in the implementation of the resolution at global, regional and country level.
- Provide technical support to the country offices FGM/C focal point in the development of annual work plans to ensure the adequacy of both the hierarchy of results of programmes, and their use of performance and impact measurement methods and indicators.
- Support the development and utilization of programme indicators and indicator databases and update the database.
- Make recommendations for improving the monitoring and evaluation practices.
- Provide technical support for knowledge development, management and sharing activities.
- In collaboration with the FGM/C Coordinator contribute to the development of a comprehensive and integrated capacity building strategy for M&E.
- Build capacity of the programme staff in the adoption and use of results-based management, planning and reporting techniques and tools.
- Manage communication activities related to the FGM/C programme, including updating and informing UNFPA and UNICEF staff at HQ, regional and country levels on the programme’s activities and knowledge products, while also identifying innovative ways to communicate and disseminate newly created tools and resources to staff and relevant partners.
- Responsible for synthesizing and documenting the joint programme on FGM/C experiences, including through direct communication with regional and country offices, to feed into ECOSOC and General Assembly reports, as well as the reports of the Secretary General.
- Manage the editing and distribution process for the Joint Programme on FGM/C publications.
- Undertake all logistical, administrative and financial arrangements required for the organization of technical workshops, inter-agency meetings, panel discussions, roundtables, steering committee and other events organized by the Joint Programme.
- Draft for internal and external reporting processes, while working directly with IERD and outside partners, including for drafting, synthesizing as well as analyzing FGM/C annual reports as needed.
- Use Atlas to monitor the financial and substantive progress of projects under the Joint Programme ceiling, and maintain and update data on the Joint programme as input to the Branch’s project database.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Post-graduate university degree or equivalent in public health, social science, demography, gender, economics, international development.
- The graduate or post graduate degree, including credits in the principles and practice of monitoring and evaluation.
- 5 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in gender, public health or social sciences.
- Recognized expertise in monitoring and evaluation.
- Proven ability to produce demonstrable results.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills in English.
- Field experience is a strong asset.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Working knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
