Widows and orphans will be educated on their rights to land ownership, micro finance, gender equality, protection from violence and forced marriage. Traditional councils will be trained in how to meet their obligations to ensure these rights.

This project will promote and monitor the implementation of recommendations made to Chile by the UN Human Rights Council in the Universal Periodic Review and by UN Treaty Bodies. Activities include awareness-raising, monitoring progress, advocacy and support for legal action against human rights abuse.

The project will facilitate preparation of the shadow report to the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women. The capacity of Chinese NGOs to monitor and report on the Chinese Government’s implementation of CEDAW will be built through training and workshops.
