The United States Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) invites interested organizations to submit applications for programs supporting internationally recognized labor rights in Bangladesh and Sub-Saharan Africa, and to promote the human and labor rights of migrant workers.
The DRL supports various programs under the mentioned thematic areas. Funds are available to support projects that have the potential to have an immediate impact leading to long-term sustainable reforms. The request award should be between $150,000 and $500,000.

Programs to be conducted: DRL invites organizations to submit proposals for programs to conduct the following:
Bangladesh (Approximately $200,000 available): DRL requests proposals for a program in Bangladesh that seeks to promote core labor standards, including freedom of association and occupational safety and health, and to raise the standard of living and promote inclusive economic growth for all Bangladeshi citizens. DRL seeks proposals with program activities that will:
- Focus on sectors that are receiving less international attention, such as shipbreaking or leather and tanneries;
- Strengthen existing unions and resources to arrange organizing campaigns around labor rights;
- Encourage bilateral organization of occupational safety and health committees within workplaces;
- Formalize mechanisms of social dialogue to discuss workplace issues;
- Engage the Government of Bangladesh to institute reforms that more closely align with internationally recognized labor rights;
- Improve compliance with international labor standards through labor law enforcement.
