The MacAruther Foundation is one of the largest private grantmaking foundations in the United States and it gives millions of dollars in funding for NGOs and projects worldwide. However, to reach out to this Foundation for funding support in an outright manner may spoil your chances of getting any grants. There will always be a certain mechanism to be following by grant-seekers which can improve your chances of winning a grant.
MacArthur Foundation provides grants in a number of development areas but these areas may be limited to a certain geographical region or proposals are accepted only during certain time of the year or selections are made by invitation only. Nevertheless, it is important to understand these areas and process of proposal submission to take advantage of the various funding opportunities offered by this Foundation.
Before apply for any grant, the Foundation advises that applicants should thoroughly aware about the grantmaking guidelines especially the ” topical focus addressed by the grantmaking strategy; geographic area covered by the grantmaking strategy; type of funding (general operating support, research, program support, etc.) that supports the grantmaking strategy.”
To apply for the grant, first check out the call for proposals for which the Foundation is currently accepting the applications. In most cases, the Foundation does not ask applicants to submit full proposals, but only a Letter of Inquiry (LoI). To know about the current call for proposals, you can visit this link.
