The University of Newcastle is inviting applicants for its Phd Scholarship program on Violence and Colonialism in order to produce the first transnational analysis of intimacy and violence as key, intertwined vectors in the development of settler societies across the colonial Anglophone Pacific Rim.
Prospective candidates are invited y the University to submit a topic that will complement the project ‘Intimacy and Violence in Anglo Pacific Rim Colonial Societies, 1830-1930’ in the Centre for the History of Violence at the University of Newcastle.
Benefits
The candidate will be supported with a stipend to the value of $25,849 per annum in 2015 (tax free and indexed annually) for a period of 3 years, with the possibility of a 6 month extension.
Eligibility Criteria
- Prospective PhD applicants should have completed the equivalent of a BA (Hons), MPhil or other two-year Masters degree in History, including a major research component with excellent results.
- Both international and Australian applicants will be considered.
