The Global Innovation Fund (GIF) accepts applications for seed funding any time during the year. Non-profit organizations, social enterprises, government agencies, researchers, international organization can apply for the grant. Eligible entities from any country may propose project having cost-effective and innovative solutions as its objectives.
GIF provides seed grants, loans and equity investments to innovators ranging from 30,000 British Pounds to 10 million British Pounds. Along with this fund, it also provides access to GIF’s global network, bridge to follow-on funding, venture and technical assistance.
The GIF grants for social innovations which aims to enhance the livelihood of millions of people living in developing countries. GIF also provides seed grants to help start up organizations.
Eligibility Criteria
- GIF is open to funding innovations in any developing country based on the World Bank’s list of low-income and lower-middle income countries.
- Applicants can only submit one Initial Application for each project or idea. An organization may submit more than one application at a time if each application is for a different project or activity.
Application Process
- Initial Application – Applicants have to submit an online form with a document (2-4 pages) or presentation (8-10 slides). As an option, applicants may also submit a video (maximum 8 minutes). GIF staff will review the applications and selected applicants will be invited for next phase.
- Full Application – Selected applicants will have to submit more detailed description through full application. GIF staff and external experts will review all the proposals.
- Funding Agreement – Once an application has been conditionally approved through GIF’s review process, GIF will negotiate a funding agreement with the applicant.
