The US Agency for International Development, USAID Small Grants Program is looking for applications from Pakistani Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and private sector organizations seeking to secure funding in the areas of education and civic participation.
Education Sector
USAID seeks to support improved quality of education through activities contributing to goals listed below:
- Improved reading skills for 100 million children in primary grades. Activities to improve educational access must be designed to contribute to another goal.
- Increased equitable access to education in crisis and conflict environments for 15 million learners.
USAID requires proposals for education grants which must be designed to help resolve challenges related to educational quality and access.
Civic Participation
USAID seeks proposals for Civic Participation grants that must be designed to strengthen the capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for policy analysis, advocacy, coalition-building, internal governance, membership representation and services, and engage in other activities aimed at fostering more peaceful and democratic societies. Focus areas under civic participation are:
- Capacity Building of Civil Society to Support Government Institutions for Essential Services
- Citizen Participation and Oversight
- Strengthen Worker Unions and Corporate Accountability
- Cross Cutting Theme
Application Procedure
While preparing applications, the applicants should ensure that the timeline for proposed projects should begin approximately 4 months after submission of an application (to allow for grants processing time) with a completion date no later than April 30, 2017.
For a grant under USAID’s Small Grants Program, the applicant must first submit a concept paper about the proposed project using the form provided on USAID’s Small Grants Program website. If the concept paper is approved, the applicant will then have to complete a full proposal using the form on the website.
