The US Agency for International Development, USAID is accepting concept papers to improve food security in Ethiopia. The effort aims to find ways to accelerate and reduce food insecurity and malnutrition across Ethiopia.
Objectives of a Food Security Innovation Fund
- Increasing resilience to drought and improving food security through demonstrating innovative low cost water-harvesting technologies.
- Improving food security and nutritional status through innovative technologies to minimize post-harvest losses and food contamination, new local supplementary nutritious foods, or ways to reach clients with nutrition messages
- Improving hygiene, health and nutrition levels through innovative methods to link water investments with hygiene awareness
- Improving livelihood diversification through innovative ways to deliver extension advice, financial services or links to employment.
Award Information
USAID expects to award up to six awards. USAID intends to set aside is approximately $2,000,000 over a three year period.
Eligibility Information
- USAID welcomes applications from any types of organizations including U.S., non-U.S. and Ethiopian private businesses, business and trade associations, foundations, U.S., non-U.S. And Ethiopian research institutions, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), faith-based organizations, international organizations, U.S, non-U.S. and Ethiopian colleges and universities, civic groups, regional organizations, etc.
- All applicants must be legally recognized organizational entities under applicable law.
- An individual cannot apply as an applicant.
Applicants need to submit concept paper to the USAID Ethiopia Mission Office via email, addressing the objectives and principles for support. Applicants are required to submit short concept papers (no more than 7 pages, including attachments).
