Project Context
The targeted group of women in the “project area” is vulnerable to violence, discrimination and silence! Existence of strong patriarchal traditions and poor knowledge and lack of confidence of women have hindered them from seeking their right to live and earn their livelihood. To address this problem, the “organization” proposes to implement a project that will empower these vulnerable women with knowledge and awareness about human and legal rights so that they can emerge with strong leadership qualities and tackle the phenomenon of violence and discrimination against them.
Project Objectives
- To reduce the cases of violence and discrimination against women in the project area
- To increase the knowledge and awareness of vulnerable women about human rights and legal rights
- To improve livelihood opportunities for women leading them to economic empowerment
Project Activities
- Identify and document existing cases of violence against women in the project area.
- Provide immediate rescue and rehabilitation support to victims of extreme violence, discrimination and trauma with counseling and medical support.
- Organize training workshops for local women leaders on human rights and legal rights and support them to further organize such workshops at the grassroots.
- Organize sensitization campaigns for men to respect and protect women in the project area.
- Awareness campaigns through street shows, rallies and meetings at grassroots-level.
- Livelihood skill development and marketing training for victims of violence.
Project Outcomes
- Reduced number of cases of violence against women in the project area
- Confident and self-aware local women leaders with knowledge to address discrimination against women
- Increased understanding of women on human rights and legal rights and how to take action against violence and discrimination against them
- Men in the project area are more sensitive towards women and respect and protect their well-being
- Increased number of women taking up entrepreneurial activities for carrying out their sustainable livelihood
