Summary is one of the most important parts of the proposal. You may write a good proposal, but if it is not accompanied with a good summary, then it is of no use. All donors prefer to get a quick look at your project before they can seek more details.
If the summary is written badly or incompletely, the donor would not be interested to go through the rest of the proposal and the chance of getting the project rejected is high in such cases. Therefore, ensure that the summary of your project is written well.
Writing a project summary is not a one-time job. It is also not the first thing you have to do when you are writing the proposal. A good summary is one where you keep going back and forth as you write and complete the proposal.
Some tips to follow while writing a summary:
1. Once the proposal is complete, take a printout and read it.
2. Note down the main points of the proposal – points that can convey your proposal in a few lines.
3. Never write a summary which is more than one page. Project summaries should always be less than one page and not more than 1-2 paragraphs in length.
