Project activities that can be proposed under the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF):
Strengthening of Civil Society: Training and capacity building of civil society organizations such as NGOs, academic institutions, policy research centers, citizen groups, women’s associations, youth bodies and other people’s networks, including those existing at the grassroots level. This can be an important component of the project where organizations improve their understanding of democracy through the trainings, empower themselves with knowledge and advocacy skills and actively participate in democratic activities of the country.
Participatory constitution building: In countries where the process of constitution has begun, applicant organizations can propose activities that encourage people, especially the marginalized groups to participate in the constitution-making process. Increasing political awareness of women and other disadvantaged groups, motivating people to participate in national consultation processes and bringing diverse communities and actors at one platform can be suggested as activities under the Fund.
Enabling access to information: Building awareness and providing information about human rights and democratic processes to marginalized groups can also be an important activity. The outcome of such an activity can be increased participation of such groups in democratic processes of the country.
Other activities can include providing civic education and voter registration information to marginalized communities, advocacy of policies leading to empowerment and justice of disadvantaged groups, ensuring transparency and integrity of public policies and services by forming watchdog groups.
You need to list out these activities in the application form.
